NRA, progress files and action planning

National Records of Achievement, Personal Progress Files, Action Planning, Personal Development Planning & Portfolios.

Action planning in careers, in studying, in work and in projects.

  • Action planning for careers - simple but useful example of an action plan from Careersoft.

  • Active Reviewing - very useful site for teachers, trainers & facilitators, including tips, skills & articles on active learning & facilitating.

  • Centre for Recording Achievement - projects, research & information from higher education & other member organisations.

  • Glossary of educational terms & approaches - very useful & understandable selection of educational terms and theories used in learning approaches & methodologies, including learning cycles & skills, accelerated learning, multiple intelligence, experiential learning, mind mapping, thinking hats, transferable skills & more, from Bradford College.

  • Mapping (Multimedia Approach to Profiles and Portfolios: INteractive Guidance - resources to help staff developers and lecturers create reflective portfolios to demonstrate their skills in & approach to teaching/training, research, administration & management in a variety of contexts (accreditation, promotion, continuous professional development).

  • National Record of Achievement - used in schools & colleges, is likely to be superseded by Progress Files - 10 pilot projects until July 2002.

  • PADSHE - Personal & Academic Development for Students in Higher Education, HE project to develop Personal Academic Records.

  • Personal Development Planning - guidelines & resources for Higher Education & development of Progress Files.

  • About Progress Files - from the DfES, a shift of focus from the presentation folder of past achievements to a set of materials to help individuals plan & manage their own learning.
    Booklets available "Getting Started" (students in Year 9), "Moving On" (students in Year 10 & 11), "Widening Horizons" ( post 16 students in education), "New Horizons" (trainees on government funded training programmes), "Broadening Horizons" (adults).

  • Progress File - downloads & ordering from the DfES, including newsletter & updates on projects & issues.

  • Personal Progress File software - commercial site, but software useable for 30 days.

  • Progress File - Achievement File - browser based suite of applications designed to assist individuals, from ages 12 to adult, plan &manage their own learning throughout their lives, developed by Continuing Education Gateway (Scotland).

  • RAPID - Progress file - for the construction industry, recording achievement for professional & individual development.

  • Reflecting on assessment - exercise to help in prioritising action to be taken as a result of tutor feedback, from Bradford College.

  • Teaching Porfolios - useful resources for the use of portfolios for educational development, continuing professional development, tenure & promotion (UK site).
