  • Lifelong Learning UK - Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK) is the new sector skills council responsible for the professional development of all those working in the field of lifelong learning. It will support learning providers in meeting the challenges of the current skills and education agendas.

  • Jobsunlimited - from the Guardian newspaper, includes teaching vacancies and an education supplement every Tuesday, jobs stay on the site for a week or until the closing date.

  • Teaching Porfolios - useful resources for the use of portfolios for educational development, continuing professional development, tenure, promotion (UK site)

  • Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA)- information and resources for training providers and schools, trainee teachers, people returning to training, newly qualified teachers, teachers, includes information on the QTS Skills test

  • eteach.com - Teaching jobs and educational resources.

  • TIPS' How to find a job teaching overseas (Teachers Internet Pages) - US site includes sections on recruiting agencies and job sites, countries where educators are in demand, useful international education sites, where to find international schools on the net, TESL, Teacher Exchange

  • TrainingZONE - UK training site for professionals involved in training, with regularly updated news and links to training and consultancy sites, also facility to receive updates by email

  • Vacancies - UK Higher education vacancies, including academic, support and administrative posts, temporary and short term contracts, research posts, from Eduserv.
Teaching qualifications are required for teaching in schools and new and continuing teachers in FE, Adult Education and Higher Education are expected to gain teaching qualifications for registration with the appropriate professional organisations. Increasingly, there are additional qualifications available for specialist areas, such as Basic Skills.   • Basic skills tutors and support assistants - qualifications required and where to find courses, from Learndirect

  • European Training for Staff in Adult Education - opportunity to develop skills outside of the UK in areas e.g. teaching and methodology, coaching or counselling skills, understanding adult education in Europe, or managing European projects, up to €1500. Grundtvig training grants open to anyone involved in the delivery of adult education: teachers, trainers, managers, counsellors, mentors and union learning representatives

  • European Training for Trainee Teachers - up to €500 for student teachers to undertake a period of supervised study and, where possible, practical training in another European country for 1 - 10 weeks

  • EverythingESL - an American site with useful examples of lesson plans, teaching tips and resources (mainly from the USA)

  • Higher Education Academy - previously the Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (ILTHE), provides information on accreditation for teaching, lecturing or supporting learning in Higher Education

  • Teacher Training Agency - information on becoming a teacher in schools, and a housing programme for key workers

  • Teaching qualifications for basic skills and ESOL - qualifications information and other standards available for literacy, numeracy, ESOl, basic skills and raising standards guides, including FE, E-learning, Adult and Community Learning, Disabled students (Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities) and Prisons

  • Trinity College - provides TESOL Certificates at level 4 for teachers without previous experience or teaching qualifications and level 5 for teachers with 2 years experience, accredited by QCA, lists course providers within the UK

  • University of Cambridge ESOL Certificates and diplomas for English language teachers - approved centres running the Cambridge certificates and diplomas, also information on the different qualifications, also newsletter, publications, seminars, publishers, recognition of Cambridge ESOL qualifications
